Facebook has high hope for its Messenger chat service and the company keeps on pushing it out aggressively to users. With over more than 900 million users active monthly on Messenger, Facebook has got two of the most used chat services in the world, the other one being WhatsApp. Recently Facebook has done some updates to its app for Messenger on Android and iOS, also there is a new version of Messenger app on Windows 10 too.
Facebook is leaving no stone unturned in bringing new and more users to its base. Facebook regularly keeps on adding new features and updates to Messenger app. Messenger app has got the latest emoji support, it also supports gifs, photos, and animations.
Facebook back in March introduced a hidden chess game in its Messenger where you can challenge your friend in a game of chess. The game was a basic one but nonetheless it was the first step from Facebook to add more functionality into Messenger.
Bringing one game to Messenger did not stop Facebook instead it made Facebook more confident and with the start of ‘March Madness’ this year Messenger app was updated with a basketball game. The game is really addictive one. At first, you’ll find it simple enough to ignore but as you reach higher levels the game’s difficulty increases. If you have somehow missed the basketball game read it here, how to play hidden basketball game.
Now as football fever has gripped the fans across the globe with currently held UEFA Euro Cup 2016 & Copa America Cup 2016, Facebook has introduced a new Football/Soccer game.
To play the game you need to have the updated Messenger app on Android or iOS.
To challenge any of your friend open the chat with them and send the football emoji as shown in the screenshot below:
Now click on the emoji and the game will begin automatically. This is similar to playing the earlier basketball game where you used the basketball emoji to start the game.
The aim of this new hidden football game is to keep the football from falling down the screen. To keep the ball from falling from the white screen you need to keep tapping the football. Now some of you old enough 😉 may recollect this as an old flash game which could be played on PCs with the help of mouse.
As easy as it sounds the game is not that simple, as your score increases the difficulty level increases by introducing distractions. The game will keep your best score till the next time you break it. Once you are in the game you’ll not be able to chat with your friend to go back to the chat just press back and the game will exit, there is no pause in the game.
The game is a really addictive one, with each point scores there are emoji celebrating and as the ball drops there are sad emoji. I have reached a score of 19 playing on my big screen Android Lenovo Vibe K4 Note. On my iPhone 5 highest I scored was 7, may be due to small screen size playing the game was not so easy on the iPhone.
All in all, this is nice small addition to the Messenger from Facebook and this is further a push from the social media giant to make its Messenger service seem for fun for people to use. Facebook is trying to make people come back to Messenger by making it more fun to use with friends and family.
With features like games, stickers, and other third party apps which allow users to doodle and shoot stylist photos, Facebook is gearing up to competition from chat services like Snapchat and many others. Chat services are becoming more and more important for big companies, Google, Apple, Microsoft name any big company and they want users on their services. Google has recently announced new chat service coming with its Android N update, while Apple is making it iMessage more like Facebook Messenger by bringing features like stickers and other to keep users engaged.
