Sony is making remarkable moves in internet TV world. Recently they have launched their exclusive internet TV series PlayStation Vue available on Roku TV. They have partnered with Roku TV which seems to be a good strategic move as far as the internet audience’s point of view is concerned. Now onwards users will be able to use PlayStation Vue through Roku TV and will be able to enjoy high-quality channels like ESPN, cloud DVR system at $29.99 monthly rental only.
Vue now can be accessed through all variants of PlayStation consoles, Amazon Fire TV and iOS. Sony is yet to make launch/support for Android and as per the reports, they are very soon going to enter Android world (will be a major update as it will cover huge audience).
In this article we will try to analyze some of the basic issues/concerns that Sony needs to work on if they want to provide real high-quality TV experience to end users.
Issues/Concerns to Sony Vue w.r.t. PlayStation
Below are some of the problem areas where the company needs to focus in real terms.
Cinavia is a big concern in real time. Ideally, it was launched with the vision to eradicate issues related to piracy but all went clueless when it started attacking genuine publishers and homemade videos even. People who have faced Cinavia on genuine sources will understand the pain that they face when Cinavia Messages start popping out on the TV screen for all lame reasons. Sony certainly needs to address this issue so that users can enjoy PS movies to utmost.
As Vue TV will be integrated with every PlayStation variant so we will have to look towards root level issues as well. YLOD (Yellow Light of Death) is not a new term to experienced PS users. This is the issue that comes whenever there is a problem within the internal PS circuitry. If it hits your PS then unfortunately you have no other option except visiting your nearby service center (or you can try yourself, but for that you need to have moderate level knowledge about electronic components). You can avoid YLOD by using below precautionary steps:
- Maintaining proper temperature level
- Keep it away from dust
- Checking air vents regularly so that nothing is there that can increase console’s internal temperature
- Keeping the console in well-maintained conditions
These are some precautionary steps that will help your gaming console staying away from YLOD/RLOD/RROD and will eventually help it surviving long miles in term of time.
These are few concerns that Sony needs to tackle if they want to make PlayStation Vue successful on various platforms (PlayStation at least). Different platforms will have different problems but Sony will surely address them with frequent updates. However as Cinavia and YLOD are different from usual, so they need to work on them separately. Hopefully, we will see some actions soon and will be able to enjoy Sony Internet TV to fullest.
