Mobile devices are meant to provide ultimate mobility to the users. When the mobile revolution began there were limitations on the size and the battery life of the mobile. Those old limitations have been removed with the advancement of technology. Now the mobile phones have become very much easy to carry and come with battery life even extending into days. But there is one challenge where device manufacturers can’t help the users and that is the carrier roaming.
There was a time when customers need to pay even for using mobile networks during domestic roaming. Domestic roaming has changed a lot with charges going very low but while travelling abroad International roaming is still a thing and a costly one.
To solve the issue of costly international roaming charges, an Egyptian startup has come up with a novel idea which will reduce roaming charges to nil almost. The company has brought VoxEra, a voice roaming fees killer device. The device allows hassle free communication, with providing zero charges for voice roaming while you are travelling abroad.
So how does it work? You just need to have an internet connection and a VoxEra device. Users just need to put their home country SIM card in the device and connect it to the internet. Next is to download the VoxEra App on your smartphone and done, you can now use your own SIM’s minutes and balance to call without even paying the roaming fees. The call via VoxEra will be done by using the standard GSM network. You can call any contact and they don’t even have to download the VoxEra app.
VoxEra also allows users to make international calls via “VoxEra-Reach” service for low cost. The VoxEra-Reach can be used while you are in your home country or abroad on a travel. The device will forward all the missed calls to voicemail when you are not connected to the internet. If you want you can also get your calls forwarded to the SIM of your travel country via VoxEra. There is no setup required for VoxEra, just plug and play with the internet connection, the device is always on and always connected.
VoxEra basically works like a message converter, when a voice call is received it is converted to VoIP call and is then sent as converted message to the Cloud via internet. When you want to make a call VoxEra sends message via Cloud and when the message is received the device converts it to GSM call.
The company has been running a campaign for funding on Kickstarter and has already crossed its goal of $20,000. The device is expected to be shipped by June this year, those who are backing the project will be given lifetime subscription. For users who travel a lot in international this device could be a big relief from those big roaming charges.
